Vicar Jon Meister 

Jon Meister serves as Vicar at St. John’s, answering a call to ministry that runs three generations deep in his family. After earning his BSBA from Bowling Green State University, Jon built a 36year career in banking, ultimately serving within management as a Vice President in both retail and business banking throughout much of his tenure.

In 2017, he began his pastoral journey as a Synod Authorized Minister (SAM) at Zion Lutheran Church in West Jefferson, Ohio. His call to St. John’s in February 2026 reflects his deep commitment to preaching, teaching, and walking alongside God’s people in faith. He remains deeply engaged in community outreach, particularly efforts supporting individuals and families facing food and housing insecurity, as well as evangelism and leading people to deepen their relationship with Christ. He will begin attending United Lutheran Seminary in January 2027 as he seeks ordination.

Jon’s greatest joy is his family, especially his son, Christian, who is completing his Master of Divinity at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. A self-professed sports geek, especially sports history, Jon can never be accused of being a bandwagon fan, as he proudly supports WVU, the Minnesota Vikings and Columbus Blue Jackets. 0 Championships and happy to just make the playoffs occasionally. Well, Paul did write within 1 Corinthians 1:28-29, “God chose the lowly things of this world…so that no one may boast before him.” Skol!
